Historians often talk about a timeline and here, animator Chris Gavin, draws us one. His line begins by showing us the big bang, almost as if through the microscope.

His palette then opens out into a profusion of chalk and pastilles - full of vitality - showing us the grim atrocities we inflict on our planet.

There is a pleasing natural, organic look to the animation, which is wholly appropriate for a story of evolution.
